St. John's Anglican Church, Antrim, Ontario

St.  John’s Anglican Church in Antrim. Situated at the crossroads of Old Highway 17 and the Kinburn Side Road, in the village of Antrim, St. John’s is visible for miles around. It’s long sloped black roof with its steeple and bell complement the crisp white exterior and picket fence bordering the well kept lawn and flowers. St. John’s was built in 1873 after John Wilson donated the land.

New 'Heritage Series' Painting Complete!

'Thompson-Perkins Mill'
15 x 30
Acrylic on Gallery Canvas

John Perkins' grist mill and Philip Thompson's saw mill were erected on this channel in 1842-50. In 1864 the buildings formed the nucleus of the Booth empire.  By the 1940s the mills were being used by the Imperial Oil Company, which had its oil tanks nearby. Like the carbide mill they were identified for future conservation and re-use as historic attractions.

Ottawans of a certain vintage will remember the Mill Restaurant, and the novelty of celebratory dinners in a heritage building. The NCC was lucky enough to secure a new tenant will a suitable name - one from the Distillery District in Toronto, The Mill St Brewery.

Huntley Heritage

Second in the Series

S.S. No. 1 Huntley - Mulligan’s School

2193 Richardson Side Rd., Carp.

Thomas Mulligan donated land in 1820 for the site of “Mulligan’s School”.  Initially there were log structures before a stone building was erected in 1883.  An organ was installed in 1929.  The building ceased operation as a school in 1957 and became a residence for several families.  In 1989, it was converted into the popular “Cheshire Cat” old English pub, and is also a designated heritage site.
After a devastating fire, The Cheshire Cat is now back in business at Christmas 2013.

The Bradley/Craig barn is an excellent and rare example of a 19th century dairy barn. It’s large size, heavy timber framing with mortise and tenon joinery, and monitor roofline with clerestory windows are characteristic of dairy barns constructed during this period. The barn was constructed in the 1870's by well known local barn builder John Cummings with the help of the community.

Now At Shopify

My online store is now open!
Art By WR @ Shopify

It was pretty easy to set up shop with the help of it's free themes to choose from and a wide variety of custom built themes to purchase through their marketplace.

With Shopify you get answers FAST, and all my customer support experiences with Shopify have been not only fast but very helpful, from both a developer and store owner perspective.

They have a huge database of FAQs, email/chat support and phone support - with a real, knowledgeable rep on the other side.

When you are focused on running your online store - this safety net of always having someone at your back with answers is worth the Shopify subscription price alone. On this point Shopify especially shines!

Thanks to Ryan, Drake, Daniel and Jeff!  Every question I had was immediately answered!
